Healthy Dum Aloo Recipe

The traditional way of making Dum Aloo is high on oil and calories. This is a recipe to prepare dum aloo which just as tasty and low on calories.

Tasty Dum Aloo


  • 1/2 kg baby potatoes
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 1 tbsp. ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp. khus khus paste
  • 1 tsp. red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp haldi powd
  • 1 tsp. coriander powder
  • 1 tsp. garam masala
  • 1 tsp. aamchoor powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander for garnishing
  • 2 tbsp. oil


Parboil the potatoes. Peel them and prick them lightly with a fork. Now put oil into a thick bottomed pan. Add the chopped onion, ginger garlic paste and khus khus paste and cook till it turns brown. Now add all the dry masalas and mix well. Now add the potatoes with half a cup of water. cover and cook for 10 minutes. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rotis.
