In my last post I spoke about removing all clutter from your homes.
Well, now it is time to de-clutter your minds. So get your mental house in order.
Visit every nook and corner of your mind and round up every single negative thought, memory, emotion, feeling and grudge that you have harboured from time immemorial. Now throw all this garbage out of your hearts and minds forever. The moment you do this, you will feel so much lighter and better.
Negative thoughts not only drain your energy but they are counterproductive too. Negative thoughts are bad, they are toxic, they lower your vibrations and keep you stuck in a rut. They only bring you pain. Thoughts that are pessimistic or downbeat lead to depression. They can have an adverse effect on your health by increasing stress and keep you from pursuing personal and professional opportunities to improve your life. By changing your negative thinking habits and replacing them with positive ones, you can break the barrier that stops you from achieving true happiness. By embracing forgiveness, you can also embrace peace, hope, gratitude and joy. Letting go of grudges and bitterness can make way for compassion, kindness and peace.
Forgiveness can lead to:
- Healthier relationships
- Greater spiritual and psychological well-being
- Less anxiety, stress and hostility
- Lower blood pressure
- Fewer symptoms of depression
- Lower risk of alcohol and substance abuse
Remember, when you hold a grudge you are so wrapped up in the wrong that you have suffered in the past that you cannot enjoy the present.
If you’re unforgiving, you might pay the price repeatedly by bringing anger and bitterness into every relationship and experience. You might lose valuable and enriching connectedness with others. And remember, holding grudges only harms and hurts the person holding them and not the other party as he or she may not even be aware of your feelings!
So come let us clear our minds and make a new beginning this festive season. Your thoughts and comments welcome below.
