My New Year resolution for 2016 is to be happy no matter what comes my way. I know it is easier said than done but I am going to try. Basically, it’s all in the mind. If we let random things disturb our peace of mind, we are going to be anxious, stressed and eventually unhappy.
During the course of the day, there are numerous things that may not happen the way we want them to. The alarm may not go off, the milkman may come late, the maid may not show up…….the list could go on. If we learn to take these ups and downs with a pinch of salt, we could save ourselves a lot of stress.
We take life too seriously. If certain things do not happen according to our wishes, we fret. If our expectations are not met, we fume. So I have decided that in 2016, I will let these trivial things pass me by without ruffling my feathers!
I think if we learn to focus on the good things that happen to us everyday and be thankful for them, we will be happier in life.
I came across this interesting idea that somebody had written about. At the beginning of the year, take an empty jar. Now anytime anything good happens in your life, write it on a piece of paper and put it in the jar. As the year progresses, you will see the jar slowly filling up. This exercise will make you subconsciously take notice of all the nice things that happen in your life because you will now look forward to putting these scraps of paper into the jar. Your whole outlook on life will change. You will become a more positive person always looking for favourable happenings in your daily routine. As a bonus the law of attraction will start working for you. They say when you look for good things, then good things happen to you.
At the end of the year, when you empty out the jar and count the number of good things that have happened in your life, you will be pleasantly surprised to see that you have a lot to be grateful for!
So folks, be happy always and say cheers to life!!!
